A/Prof Agasthian obtained his MBBS and Master of Medicine in Surgery from the National University of Singapore in 1984 and 1990 respectively. He was also admitted to the fellowship of FRCS from Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in 1989 and Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1990. Dr Agasthian brings with him a wealth of experience in the field of Thoracic Surgery. He has done General Thoracic Fellowship in the Division of General Thoracic Surgery at Mayo Clinic, USA, and in Thoracic Surgery and Lung Transplantation in Cleveland Clinic, USA. He has given numerous presentations to learned societies to share his experiences and knowledge and has done several publications, abstracts and book chapters. He is also an active member in several professional bodies. He is a Visiting Consultant to many restructured hospitals in Singapore and was a Clinical Lecturer in National University of Singapore. Before joining NUH, he was a Senior Consultant at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre. Prior to that, he was a Senior Consultant with the National Cancer Centre, Singapore.
